Short answer: Mist of Deceit Wicks come from Mist Core Grass, which you gather in Reefshadow Bay while the Mist of Deceit weather is active. A picked Mist Core Grass loses durability and turns into a Wick when it runs out. Wicks make Mist Core Cannonballs (10 Wicks, 3 Tungsten Ingots and 2 Gunpowder for 10 shots) and power facilities such as the solar, hydropower and biomass generators. How to get Mist of Deceit Wicks

1. Sail to Reefshadow Bay and wait for the Mist of Deceit. Mist Core Grass is gathered inside the Mist zone, so the weather has to be active.
2. Pick Mist Core Grass. The grass is a tool item with 2 durability. After you pick it, it keeps losing durability, and when it runs out it turns into a Mist of Deceit Wick. While you hold it, it lights the area around you and pushes back the mist.
3. Open Mist of Deceit Trace Boxes when you find them. The th.gl database lists this box as a guaranteed source of 15 to 25 Wicks.

Mist Core Grass stacks to 100, so you can carry plenty while it turns into Wicks.

Blaze Core Lantern: the item to bring

Mist of Deceit lowers your temperature and limits how far you can see, and the lower your HP, the smaller your view. The Blaze Core Lantern clears the fog around you and warms you, but it uses durability while it is on.

Mist Core Clarity Soup is the food option: it raises Cold Resist and lets you see through the fog. Farming tips

• Go when the mist is up. No Mist of Deceit, no Mist Core Grass. Plan your trips north around the weather.
• Lantern on in the fog, off in calm spells. Haywire weather pauses now and then. Switching the lantern off during the calm saves durability.
• Keep your HP high. Low HP shrinks your view in the mist, which makes the grass harder to spot.
• Pack warm food. The cold drains you the whole time you are in the fog. Mist Core Clarity Soup or All-Weather Stew both help.
• Hold grass when the lantern breaks. Mist Core Grass in hand also lights the area and dispels the mist.
• Watch for figures in Phase II. Early-server players report figures that look like you appearing in the fog in Phase II.
• Automate later. Reverse-engineer the Wick mining blueprint from wilderness exploration, then unlock Wick Auto Mining Technology so a facility keeps producing Wicks. The materials page explains both layers.
